Another Ableton Live Tutorial (I know the last one has been published a looong time ago). In this tutorial I’m describing how a filter’s sidechain can be used to trigger a distortion unit. The sound produced by an “Effect Rack” like this changes enormously.

This Tutorial was written for audiotuts.com in the mid of 2008. I submitted it and the Tutorial was never released. Instead of moving it to the trash i decided that it has to be published, even on a small website like mine.
I wish you much fun by applying all the Tricks described in this article to your own music.
As some may recognize the sound which is used as an example in this article is the Main Lead sound in Fragnoti. The song will be on my new EP which will be on Stores on 22th May 2009.

When Ableton Live 7 came out i wrote a review about the software as soon as i got my hands on it. Ableton released Version 8 of Live on Wednesday last week during Musikmesse 2009. I was struggling and fighting with myself a few days if i should buy it or not. After balancing all the pros and cons i decided that i really need to get my hands on this brandnew toy. (Many of you may not know me, but i’m a fanatical user of Ableton Live since 2005. I use it since Version 5 came out and i still love this piece of software. It added so much stuff to my electronic music production workflow. Thanks Ableton!)

[Tutorial] Connect Traktor Pro to Ableton Live

In this tutorial i show you how you can use some technologies available for your Mac. Just download SoundFlower and activate your IAC Driver (in
/Appliactions/Utilities).Recently i was DJing in a Club. I decided that Traktor Pro is the right weapon for this job. But i didn’t want to leave Ableton Live behind. So i was looking for a way to connect these two applications together.
First i took the same technique i described in “Record Skype Recordings with GarageBand” to have my Traktor signal in Live.
Secondly i activated the IAC Driver, send MIDI Clock from Traktor to Live over that device…and…Boom. -

[TextMate] Live Webvorschau als Plugin
Dadurch das ich viele Dinge für das Web veröffentliche und auch einigermassen viel mit HTML, PHP, Markdown und CSS arbeite ist es für mich immer wichtig am besten eine Live Vorschau für meinen ganzen Code zu haben.
Mein Lieblingseditor TextMate kann das auch!
Dafür lädt man sich das TextMate Plugin WebMate herunter und installiert dieses.
Hat man das hinter sich gebracht kann die Live Web Vorschau aus dem Menü heraus gestartet werden. Window > Show Web Preview.
(Achtung! Beim drücken des Shortcuts ⌃+⌥+⌘+P kann es vorkommen, dass die Standard Vorschau aufgerufen wird. Über den Menüpunkt wird aber immer die “richtige” Vorschau aufgerufen). -

Ableton Live Tutorial: Chorstimmen erzeugen
Gestern hab ich in meinem anderen Blog mal wieder ein kleines Ableton Live Tutorial veröffentlicht.
Diesmal zeige ich wie man nach einer vergessen Chorstimmenaufnahme trotzdem noch das beste aus dem Stereopanorama holen kann — und zwar mit Ableton Live.
Inzwischen laden wir die Videos auch bei YouTube und Vimeo hoch, deswegen binde ich das mal hier auch ein. ;)
